SUAREZ, MAYOR -2- 91-- 352 ON CITY OF NIIAM1, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM 'O The Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission -ROM Cesar H. 01 City Manag DATE MAR 2 31991 F'-F SUBJECT Hazardous Materials Dive Suits REFERENCES ENCLOSURES It is respectfully requested that a Resolution authorizing the purchase of dive suits suitable for diving in hazardous materials, at a cost not to exceed $16,000, and allocating funds therefor from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, be approved. The Miami Police Department Dive Team is increasingly being placed in a position of having to refuse to dive for evidence, cars or other items, in the interest of officer safety. This is due to the rising level of pollution in the coastal waters as well as the Miami River. The risk can, however, be minimized by wearing state-of-the-art dive suits and masks. This equipment reduces injury to the diver as well as costs to the City resulting from the loss of a diver. It is, therefore, recommended that a Resolution authorizing the purchase of dive suits and masks, at a total cost not to exceed $16,000, and allocating funding therefor from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 029002-247, be approved. 91- 352 LA AFFIDAVIT I, Perry L. Anderson, Jr., Chief of Police, City of Miami, do hereby certify that the aforementioned request for expenditures from the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund, for the purchase of Hazardgus Materials Dive Suits. at an estimated cost of S16.000, complies with the provisions of Section 932.704, Florida Statutes., Perry L.
