A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $9;100, FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND, IN SUPPORT OF THE MIAMI SISTER CITY DELEGATION VISITING FROM KAGOSHIMA, JAPAN, MAY $-12, 1991; FURTHER ALLOCATING AN ADDITIONAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $29500 FROM SAID FUND AS A GRANT TO COVER COSTS OF SPECIFIED CITY FEES FOR THE JAPANESE SPRING FESTIVAL TO BE HELD ON WATSON ISLAND ON MAY 12, 1991; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY NECESSARY AGREEMENT(S), IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH EVENT SPONSOR(S), SUBJECT TO AND CONDITIONED UPON SUCH REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, INCLUDING THE REQUIREMENT THAT ANY PROFITS FROM SAID EVENT BE RETURNED TO THE CITY FOR THE ICHIMURA-MIAMI JAPAN GARDEN. WHEREAS, the International Trade Board, at its April 16, 1991 meeting, adopted a Motion approving the use of $5,900 from the Board's promotional activity account in support of the Miami Sister City Delegation visiting from Kagoshima, a' Japan; and WHEREAS, the International Trade Board, in acknowledgment of the tremendous benefits in terms of trade and tourism to be i derived from this event has recommended that the City Commission allocate additional funding as necessary to cover any remaining f 3 expenses which have not been met by outside sponsorship; and WHEREAS, the Friends of the Japanese Garden will hold the Japanese Spring Festival on May 12, 1991 in conjunction with the Delegation visit and have requested City support to cover the $: costs for the City's concession permit, beer/wine permit, and ticket surcharge at a total estimated cost of $29500; and t WHEREAS, the event sponsor(s) will pay all other necessary r costs for the Festival and the herein grant will be contingent 4; j t upon all profits from the event being returned to the City for 3 the maintenance and operation of Ichimura-Miami Japan Garden; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: x a CITY COMMSION M OF APR r 91_ ...... F'�3 :i f Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. An amount not to exceed $9,100 is hereby allocated from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund, in support of the visiting Miami Sister City Delegation from Kagoshima, Japan, May 8-12, 1991. Section 3. An additional amount not to exceed $2,500 is hereby allocated from said Fund as a grant to cover the cost of specified City fees for the Japanese Spring Festival to be held on Watson Island on May 12, 1991. Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the necessary agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with the event sponsor(s) subject to and conditioned upon such requirements and limitations as may be prescribed by the Administration of the City of Miami, including the requirement that any profits from said event be returned to the City for the Ichimura-Miami Japan Garden.
