HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-91-0305J-91-387 4/11/91 RESOLUTION NO 9-1- 305 A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE MIAMI LOVING MIAMI UNITY BIKE-A-THON SCHEDULED FOR MAY 11, 1991 FROM 10:00 A.M. TO 2:00 P.M.; ENDORSING SAID EVENT AND APPROVING THE PARTIAL AND TEMPORARY USE OF CERTAIN STREETS AND THOROUGHFARES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ROUTE APPROVED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CONTROL TRAFFIC FLOW ON THE STREETS TO BE UTILIZED AS PART OF THE BIKE-A-THON; WAIVING ALL CITY FEES ALLOWED TO BE WAIVED BY CITY CODE, INCLUDING THE FEE FOR THE USE OF THE MILDRED AND CLAUDE PEPPER FOUNTAIN AREA OF BAYFRONT PARK; INSTRUCTING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO USE ON DUTY MOTOR PATROL DURING THIS EVENT; FURTHER CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR THE NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND SUBJECT TO THE ORGANIZERS OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Miami Loving Miami Unity Bike-A-Thon scheduled for May 11, 1991 from 10:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M. is hereby endorsed. Section 2. The use of certain streets and thoroughfares in accordance with the route approved by the Police Department is herebyapproved. Section 3. The herein approval is hereby conditioned upon the organizers obtaining the necessary permits from the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Section 4. The Police Department is hereby authorized to control traffic flow on certain streets during the Miami Loving Miami Unity Bike-A-Thon. i j Section 5. All those fees allowed by City Code to be waived are hereby waived, including the fee for the use of the Mildred and Claude Pepper Fountain area of Bayfront Park. The herein authorizations are hereby conditioned upon the organizers paying for the necessary costs of City services associated with said event and obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee. s Section 8. The purpose of our request is to seek authorization and endorsement from the City Commission, to hold a Unity Bike A-Thon on May 11, 1991, form 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. We are also requesting a waiver of those fees that are allowed by law. Mr. Odio, Miami Loving Miami, Inc., believes that our Unity Bike A- Thon event will make a positive impact in the City of Miami's continued efforts to promote lasting Community Unity.
