FOR THE FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF STAGE CURTAINS AT THE MANUEL ARTIME PERFORMING ARTS CENTER FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AT A TOTAL PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $13,692.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 333083; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received February 20, 1991 for the furnishing and installation of stage curtains at the Manuel Artime Performing Arts Center for the Department of Community Development; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to sixteen (16) potential suppliers and four (4) bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available from the j Capital Improvement Project No. 333083; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Community Development for the purpose of furnishing and installing stage curtains at the Manuel Artime Performing Arts Center; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the ` Department of Community Development recommend that the bid received from Alan Deutsch Associates, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The total cost associated with this project is estimated not to exceed $13,692.00 with funds available from the C.I.P. Project No. 333083. BACKGROUND The Department of Community Development has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 90-91-055, for the stage curtains for the Manuel Artime Performing Arts Center. A total of four (4) vendors responded to the bi d: Alan Deutsch Associates, Inc., Dolphin Draperies, Inc., El Cid Draperies, Inc., and Kenney Draperies Associates, Inc. As a result of our bid evaluation, award is recommended to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, Alan Deutsch Associates, Inc., a non-mi nori ty vendor located outside Ci. ty limits. This award has been determined to be in the best interest of the City. The total cost associated with this project is estimated not to exceed $13,692.60.
