A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
SUBMIT AN AMENDMENT TO THE APPROVED FIFTEENTH
(15TH) YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
(CDBG) PROGRAM FINAL STATEMENT TO THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
(HUD) TO REFLECT A REALLOCATION OF FUNDS IN
THE AMOUNT OF $300,000 FROM THE $1,0001000
ALLOCATED FOR LAND ACQUISITION IN OVERTOWN
FOR THE PURCHASE OF CAMILLUS HOUSE TO THE
CONSTRUCTION OF NEW TRAUMA CENTER AT JACKSON
MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA, IMPLEMENTING RESOLUTION NO. 89-830,
ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 14, 1989, WHICH ENDORSED
THE CONCEPT AND PLEDGED CITY FUNDS FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT OF SAID CENTER.
WHEREAS, the City Commission approved Resolution No. 89-388
on April 27, 1989, authorizing the submittal of the approved
Community Development Block Grant Program Final Statement; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has officially endorsed the
concept of a new trauma center at Jackson Memorial Hospital and
pledged to provide funding as per. Resolution No. 89-830 adopted
September 14, 1989; and
WHEREAS, said designation of Community Development Block
Grant Funds by the City Commission requires an amendment to the
previously submitted Community Development Program's Final
Statement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
-Preamble; to the Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto
and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to submit

Development Block Grant Program Final Statement to the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development to reflect a
reallocation of funds in the amount of $300,000 from the

$1,000,000 allocated for sand Acquisition in Overtown, to the
construction of a new Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital,
Miami, Florida, implementing Resolution No. 89-830, adopted
September 14, 1989, which Resolution endorsed the concept and
pledged City funds for the development of said center.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution, authorizing the City Manager to submit an
amendment to the Fifteenth (15th) Year Community Development
Block Grant Final Statement to the U.S. Department of Housing and
Urban Development, for the purpose of reallocating $300,000 for
the construction of a new Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial
Hospital.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Community Development has analyzed the need to
submit an amendment to the Fifteenth (15th) Year Community
Development Block Grant Final Statement for the purpose of
reallocating $300,000 originally allocated for Land Acquisition

construction of a new Trauma Center at Jackson
Memorial Hospital.
On September 14, 1989, the City Commission adopted
Resolution 89-
830 which endorsed the concept of a new Trauma
Center and pledged
financial support in the amount of $300,000
per year for five
years.
This Resolution provides for the allocation
of $300,000 as the
first year's contribution toward the development
of this project.
