Odic ENCLOSURES: City Manager RECOMMENDATIONs It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution be passed ' accepting the contract with Miami Dade Community College Medical Center Campus and the City of Miami, Fire Rescue and Inspection Services Department. BACKGROUND: The City of Miami Fire Rescue and Inspection Services Rescue Division has maintained a contract with Miami Dade Community College Medical Center Campus which provides the clinical experience for EMT and Paramedic students, since July 20, 1981. Miami Dade Community College Medical Center Campus is -the primary source of EMT's and Paramedics for the Department and clinical experience is a necessary component of the class curriculum. The maintenance of this contract is necessary to maintain an adequate number of EMT's and Paramedics in the Department and in turn comply with State regulations. The new contract is essentially the same as the -contract that has been in place since 1981, with the following exceptions: 1. Item 2-C provides the Department a degree of operational control by giving preference to the City's employee's'when providing clinical experience. 2. The Agreement for Services provides compensation to the City when City employees engage in a Preceptor Program for Paramedics. 3 CA 1110., 91 k
