HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-91-0051J-91-42 12/13/90 RESOLUTION NO. 9 1_ b i A RESOLUTION PERMANENTLY RESTRICTING VEHICULAR ACCESS TO NORTHWEST 34TH TERRACE BETWEEN THE EASTERLY SIDE OF ITS INTERSECTION WITH NORTHWEST 2ND AVENUE AND FIFTY FIVE (55) FEET WEST OF THE WESTERLY SIDE OF ITS INTERSECTION WITH NORTHWEST 1ST AVENUE, IN THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA; SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS CONTAINED WITHIN THIS RESOLUTION; DIRECTING THAT THE CITY CLERK TRANSMIT A COPY TO THIS RESOLUTION TO ALL INTERESTED AGENCIES. WHEREAS, the City of Miami has recently purchased property on the north side of Northwest 34th Terrace between Northwest 2nd Avenue and Northwest 1st Avenue for the purpose of expanding and modernizing the Clty's Roberto Clemente Park; and WHEREAS, Northwest 34th Terrace currently separates the existing developed park from the recently purchased property and patrons of Roberto Clemente park must cross this thoroughfare to access the entire park; and WHEREAS, Section 54-17 of the City Code of the City of Miami, Florida, gives the City Commission the power, after a properly advertised public hearing to require that vehicular access to a particular street be prohibited where such prohibition Is found to be in the best Interest of the public; and WHEREAS, the Police Department, Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department, Solid Waste Department and Public Works Department have made recommendations on the proposed prohibition of vehicular access to Northwest 34th Terrace between the easterly side of Its Intersection with Northwest 2nd Avenue and fifty five (55) feet west of the westerly side of Its Intersection with Northwest 1st Avenue and have expressed no substantial objections to the proposed prohibition; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF, J AN 14 1991 91" 51 RE=011ll'!� RiO. WHEREAS, pursuant to due public notice, a public hearing was held before the City Commission on January 10, 1991 as to any objections to the permanent prohibition of vehicular access to the aforesaid street and no objections were sustained by the Commission; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires that the prohibition of vehicular access to the aforesaid street be Implemented on a permanent basis; and WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the herein prohibition Is In the best Interest of the public; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings set forth In the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and Incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. It Is hereby directed that vehicular access to Northwest 34th Terrace between the easterly side of its Intersection with Northwest 2nd Avenue and fifty five (55) feet west of the westerly side of Its Intersection with Northwest 1st Avenue in the City of Miami, Florida, be permanently prohibited forthwith In accordance with the findings as set forth in Section 1 hereof. Section 3. It is hereby directed that the City Clerk transmit a copy of this Resolution to all Interested agencies. Section 4. Odl City Manager ENCLOSURES: Resolution, Location Map RECOMMENDATION; It Is respectively recommended that the City Commission adopt* the attached resolution authorizing the permanent restriction of vehicular access to Northwest 34th Terrace between the easterly side of Its Intersection with Northwest 2nd Avenue and fifty five (55) feet west of the westerly side of Its Intersection with Northwest 1st Avenue. BACKGROUND: The City of Miami has recently purchased property on the north side of Northwest 34th Terrace between Northwest 2 Avenue and Northwest 1 Avenue for the purpose of expanding and modernizing Roberto Clemente park in the Wynwood neighborhood. Northwest 34th Terrace currently separates the existing developed park from the recently purchased property. The Public Works Department Is in the process of replatting Roberto Clemente Park to officially close and vacate Northwest 34th Terrace and create a single, much larger and Improved park. Commission FROM: Cesar H. 0' o City Manager RECOMMENDATION: DATE: JAN 21991 FILE: SUBJECT: MANOR HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT PHASE IV H-4519 Resolution Confirming Preliminary Assessment Roll REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution confirming the preliminary assessment roll for MANOR HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT - PHASE IV in MANOR HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT - PHASE IV H-4519. BACKGROUND: Construction of MANOR HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT - PHASE IV in MANOR HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT - PHASE IV H-4519 has been completed, and the preliminary assessment roll for this improvement is ready to be presented to the Commission for confirmation. The construction for this highway improvement was in the area bounded by N.W. 50 Street, N.W. 54 Street, N.W. 12 Avenue and N.W. 17 Avenue. The total assessment cost of the highway improvement amounted to $266,897. A public hearing is scheduled for January 10, 1991 to hear objections to confirmation of the assessment roll. If no objections are sustained, it will be in order for the Commission to adopt the resolution confirming the assessment roll.
