HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-91-0016J-91-11 12/28/90 RESOLUTION NO. y� A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE USE OF STREETS AND THOROUGHFARES DURING THE JOSE MARTI PARADE CONDUCTED BY BIPRISA—/ ON JANUARY 28TH, 1991, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 A.M. AND 1:00 P.M., SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CONTROL TRAFFIC FLOW ON THE STREETS TO BE UTILIZED AS PART OF THE PARADE ROUTE; FURTHER CONDITIONED UPON ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND SUBJECT TO THE ORGANIZERS OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE. WHEREAS, BIPRISA1 will conduct the Jose Marti Parade on Monday, January 28th, 1991; and WHEREAS, BIPRISA has requested the use of certain streets to conduct the aforementioned event between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The use of certain streets and thoroughfares in the City of Miami on January 28th, 1991, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. during the Jose Marti Parade to be conducted by the BIPRISAI/, is hereby approved. Section 2. The herein approval is hereby conditioned upon the organizers obtaining the necessary permits from the Department of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Section 3. The Police Department is hereby authorized to control traffic flow on certain streets in the City of Miami to be utilized as part of the Parade course, as follows: 1/ This acronym stands for Bilingual Private Schools Association. CITY COMMLSSIum MEETNG OF JAN 10 1991 MWOMM C Commencing in the intersection of Southwest 13th Avenue and Southwest 8th Street, proceeding East to Southwest 5th Avenue, North on Southwest 5th Avenue to Southwest 5th Street, and East on Southwest 5th Street to Jose Marti Park. Section 4. The herein authorizations are hereby conditioned upon the organizers paying for the necessary costs of City Services associated with said event and obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. Odi REFERENCES: City Manager ENCLOSURES: i It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the use of certain streets in connection with the Jose Marti Parade to be conducted by BIPRISA, a Bilingual Private Schools Association, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., subject to the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. This authorization is further conditioned upon the organizers paying for the cost of City services and subject to the organizers obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee. The Department of Community Development has prepared the appropriate legislation for the above mentioned .authorization in connection with the Jose Marti Parade to be conducted by BIPRISA, i a Bilingual Private Schools Association on January 28th, 1991. This event is a well organized annual event. The event organizers have contacted the Police Department to design the parade course so that major thoroughfares remain partially open to vehicular traffic, thereby minimizing traffic disruption in the area of the parade. 3l)U, 11 Attachment: (1) Proposed Resolution CA X-4 91- 16
