HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-91-0005J-91-21 12/28/90 RESOLUTION NO. 9 -( - 0 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT-IN-AID AWARD FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF STATE, DIVISION OF HISTORICAL RESOURCES, BUREAU OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION FOR FUNDING OF THE MIAMI FIRE MUSEUM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT (NO. 313231) IN THE AMOUNT OF $241,500; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY CONTRACTS AND/OR AGREEMENTS IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO CITY ATTORNEY TO IMPLEMENT THE PROJECT SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE CITY CODE PROCUREMENT PROVISIONS. WHEREAS, the City Manager has applied for a grant-in-aid from the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources, Bureau of Historic Preservation; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami proposes to restore and adaptively reuse Old Fire House #2, located at 1401 North Miami Avenue in the Omni Redevelopment Area, for a Fire Museum and Fire Prevention Education Facility; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami has been designated eligible to be a recipient of these funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the grant-in-aid in the amount of $241,500 from the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources, Bureau of 1 Historic Preservation for funding of the Miami Fire Museum Capital Improvement Project (No. 313231), in the amount of $241,500; to be released in quarterly installments. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the necessary contract(s) in a form acceptable to City Attorney to implement this projecti/. Section 4. Odi City Manager ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: � CA-8 JAN - 21991 FILE : Recommendation for Resolution Accepting Grant -In -Aid; Miami Fire Museum CIP Project It is recommended that a Resolution be passed authorizing the City Manager to accept a Grant -In -Aid Award from the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources, Bureau of Historic Preservation for funding of the Miami Fire Museum Capital Improvement Project (No. 313231), in the amount of $241,500. BACKGROUND: The Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services applied for a Grant--in-.Aid to restore and rehabilitate the City's Old Fire House #2 Historic Property. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places January 4, 1989. The building, located at 1401 North Miami Avenue in the Omni Redevelopment Area, will be restored and adaptively reused for a Fire Museum and Fire Prevention Education Facility. The City of Miami has been designated eligible to be a recipient of these funds and it is deemed appropriate that the City Manager be authorized to accept the Grant Award, which will be released in quarterly installments.
