Dear Mr. Maxwell: P a i i After attending the August 231 1989 meeting hosted by your panel, I wanted to take a moment to present our concerns in writing. MQat of the sidewalks leading to the area are lose than to feet in width. However, there is one sidewalk that is approximately 20 to 25 feet in width. Because of railroad signals and landscaping the actual space used is about 1$ to 20 foot. We have asked the police officers assigned to our events to Align the vendors and their carts in a fashion that 'creates an unobstructed thoroughfare for patrons eomin9 from 1) the metro rail, 2) the metro buses, 3) the parkinq lots and 4) pedestrian dro off areas west of the rail station, one would think that this would provide aderpiate space for all concerned, but it does not., Because the area is so heavily populated b vendors ( 18 to 30 depending on the event ) and their service ines ( approximately io 1 diameter per cart ) there is no adequate th,oxoughf4 re for the _ patrons. It the police do not make an effort to coordinate the vendors in the area, we find carts all over the place. In both cases vendors - are always removed from the immediate property of the arena. In addition to the above problems, are the following, a) open flames b) obstruction of ourb cuts a) purchase by pressure 4) obscene lanquage 9P Y LNsura Management Mlannl, Inc. 7 • N•'. • i. .'C •. % '".1) !0r Q • PAic Z t N W F ►s.
