FL 33133 \)ar City Mar/ager Odio: I would like a time to 'Fueak befcre the City Commissioners as soon as pos7-:ible regarding: Friority i: The Ornqe Bowl seatinq and restroom facilities of severely disabled oersons using wheelchairs and other similiar pothetic device. Aoarer'tly our needs were completely overlooked in the Orance Bowl rennovations Dlans. Our focus is mainstream seating verses inadecjuate and not enouqh seating in segrepa+ed cluster seating that should have only been a temporary short plan while a study and rennovations were under way. There is a lonp list of oersons with greviances over the way they are seated ar/d treated at the orange bowl that would make the Big East Confere- nce take a second look, that will preclude any Olympic Sports Festivals. Please get a cooy of the legal settlemer/t made with the Gold Coast Dome from Donna Schulmiester, City of St. Peter- s -berg Legal Dept. POB 2842, St. Petersburg, FL 33731 (813) 825- 3100. (Reference only, we plan no legal soit). Piority 2: The inefficient BuildinI',. Zoning ing Department" rwhich kees our disabled volunteers xery busy turning over.violations on finis- hed buildings. (Have you consjdered turr/ing over. t|/is Departmer/t to Dade County Building & Zoning? Why the 8rand Jury did not investigate this City of Miami Detment is an amazing wonder. ) priority 3: The Hot Dog cart problem which forces disabled persons io wheelchairs off sidewalks and into the streets in the ciyc center. when we try to deal with the City of Miami officialswe are told "off the record" that it is the oolitics of t!e disab- 1ed verses the hot dog vendors. We are ncw ready to deal with this outrageous problem. PRIORITY 4: The systematic removal of disabled narking soaces such as the one in front of ZANZIBAR CAFE. In closing I would like to know if the Virginia Key Park has been made accessible per the March 3, 1987 let.ter authored by Katherir/e Noble so that disabled persons in wheelchairs now have sites to fish from, restrooms that ;Rre fully usable in wheelchairs and a method worked out so that we can po swimminp?
