CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA
INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO: Honorable Mayor and Members
of thpfcity Commission
FROM Cesar H. Odio,
City Manager
DATE N 0 V 2 71990 FILE
SUBJECT: Recommendation for Ordinance;
Amending Ordinance No. 10689
REFERENCES:
ENCLOSURES:
It is respectfully recommended that an Ordinance be passed
amending Ordinance No. 10689 by increasing the appropriation for
the Special Revenue Fund entitled: "Dade County EMS Grant Award
(FY 189)" in the amount of $160,046, consisting of a $156,046
Grant for FY'90 apportioned by Metropolitan Dade County from the
State of Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services
under the "Florida Emergency Medical Services Grant Program for
Counties", and $4,000 in anticipated interest earnings.
The Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services has been
awarded a grant for FY190-91, for expenditure in pre=hospital
emergency medical services. Ordinance No. 10689, adopted by the
City Commission on January 11, 1990, set up a Special Revenue
Fund for funds received from the aforementioned grant program for
FY'89. Since a balance $94,405 remains in the FY'89 Grant,
which has been approved by the County to be carried over for
expenditure for FY'90 Projects, it is deemed appropriate to amend
Ordinance No. 10689 by increasing the appropriation to include
the FY'90 Grant in the, amount of $156,046 and $4,000 in
anticipated interest earnings. This will make a total of
$254,451 available for expenditure in pre -hospital emergency
medical services for the following FY190 Projects:
800 Megahertz Repeater - $20,000
Hand Held Computer for EMS Incident Reporting- $100,000
Semi -Automatic Defibrillators - $35,000
Emergency Medical Dispatch Training - $15,000
Child Restraint Seats - $4,000
Safety Literature - $5,000
EMS Seminars - $10,000
EMS Equipment - $26,467
Accident Prevention Program - $35,000
Budget Reserve - $3,984
