RESOLUTION NO. 9 I — 813 A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THREE MUSICAL CONCERTS, TO BE HELD AT THE MANUEL AIt1^IML: PERFORMING ARTS CENTER BY PAN AMERICAN SOCIETY OF ARTISTS, INC. ON FEBRUARY 2.0, MAY 21 AND MAY 22, 1.993; WAIVING THE RENTAL FEE OF SAID FACILITY IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEF,D $350 FOR ONE OF SAID EVENTS; SAID WAIVER CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ANY OTHER COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT AND OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The rental fee in an amount not to exceed $350 for one of three musical concerts to be held at the Manuel Artime Performing Arts Center by Pan American Society of Artists, Inc. on February 20, May 21 and May 22, 1993, is hereby waived. Section 2. Said waiver is hereby conditioned upon the organizers paying for any other costs of City services and applicable fees associated with said event and obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. Dear Ms. Lutz, PAN AMERICAN SOCIETY OF ARTISTS, Inc. would like to request the Dade County Commissioners to waiver the payments for the use of the Manuel Artemi Performing Arts Center for the following: 1) Feb. 20 performance $350 + 10% Feb.19 reharsal $100.00 2) May 21 performance $350 + 10% May 22 performance $350 + 10% May 20 rehearsal 8hrs. $200. The performances for the MaPAC are: FEb.20..ORCHESTRA with JOSE Diaz piano soloist & ALLEGRO BALLET Co. (Paquita,SwanLake and FAUST) May 21..VIUDA ALEGRE full prod. w/orchestra May 22 VIUDA ALEGRE full prod. w/orchestra. The ticket sales for the production in this theater are $15 for the Orchestra Concert and $20. for the Viuda Alegre. The auditorium can only use 700. seats for the buying public which makes it very difficult to produce orchestra performances with soloists, ballet or zarzuela of high quality. PASA a tax -exempt -non profit organization gets a$2500. Hannibal Cox Grant for these projects. We are a newly organized group at the grass -root level for this area. Any move on your part to help us with financial assistance can encourage us.,stand on our feet and produce high quality performances for the Dade County community. (PASA), a tax- exempt -non profit corporation of artists, singers, musicians, writers, designers, scenery, builders, dancers and people belonging to the stage. This organization has been in existence for 17 years. In order to serve the community and help the artists, 2 years ago we decided to become a tax -exempt -non profit corporation. PASA would like to: a) revive in Miami Beach the Miami Beach Symphony Orchestra which has been non existent for a number of years and, b) to present concerts and Latin Zarzuelas with orchestra in the Manuel Artemi Performing Arts Center in Miami. We have a very capable man residing in Miami Beach since 1977. Maestro Laurence Gordon Siegel, an international conductor, conducts in three continents opera and concerts (ballet, operette, symphony, zarzuelas); opera in Milano every winter; recording artist (15 CDs in the market). We have professional orchestra. We are aware of the fact that the production expenses are very costly and the gate receipts if sold to the public in both theaters cannot cover these costs and the only way we could do it is to solicit the support of private individuals and mostly corporations in order to carry on our project. We are asking your support, to join us by giving us donations. We would like to meet with you or your marketing -public relations director to discuss further our project this season.
