Odio City Manager N01' ' r 9 2 FILE DATE : 1 U ( Resolution to Accept Grant for SUBJECT : Lummus Park Tree Planting Small Business Administration Tree Planting Program REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: Recommendation It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution accepting a grant in the amount of $16,000.00 from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) through the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services for the planting of trees in Lummus Park under the SBA Tree Planting Program. The legislation would also authorize the City Manager to execute the necessary documents for this purpose. Background The Department of Parks and Recreation submitted a grant application to the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services in March of 1992 seeking federal Small Business Administration monies for the planting of an estimated 19 royal palms in Lummus Park. This program provides federal SBA funds to local governments for the planting of trees in City Parks. The City received notice on November 21 1992 that the City was eligible for a grant of $16,000.00. The required local match, in an amount equal to the federal/state monies, was previously appropriated in the Capital Improvement Program under Project No. 331042 "Lummus Park Redevelopment". Appropriation of the new grant funds will be included in the master appropriations ordinance for the City's Capital Improvement Program for the upcoming fiscal year. 92- 778
