CITY ATTO CLL:osk: 405 XAVIER L-.\ SUARE2', MAYOR 92- 758 CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO : Honorable Mayor and DATE : n'i`FILE Members of the City Commission NOV ►:S12 Cesar H. Od ,. FROM : City Manage SUBJECT: Accomplishments of Community Development Corporations REFERENCES: City Commission Agenda ENCLOSURES: Item - November 12, 1992 At the October 22, 1992 City Commission meeting the City Commission instructed the Administration to provide a budgeting summary and a summary of the major accomplishments of each of the Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and the Community Development Corporations (CDCs) for the past three (3) years. This memorandum serves to transmit a summary of the major accomplishments and the budgets for each of the nine (9) Community Development Corporations that have received funding for the 18th Year Community Development Block Grant Program Year. Several of the Community Development Corporations that are involved in the production and/or rehabilitation of housing units in the City have received CDBG funding over the past three (3) years. Others such as Greater Miami Neighborhoods, Inc. and the Little Haiti Housing Association are receiving administrative support in the amounts of $100,000 and $50,000, respectively for the first time. Currently, the majority of the Community Development Corporations (CDCs) are involved in the planning and predevelopment phase for specific housing projects that are being planned in several of the City's Community Development Target Areas. Because of the need to secure project financing from a number of sources that include Metropolitan Dade County Documentary Surtax Program, State of Florida's Low Income Tax Credit Program and State Apartment Incentive Loan Program, in addition to private sector financing from local financial institutions, in most cases construction on any new housing project requires approximately 2- 3 years. 92- 75%y_ wy. 2 W CDC SPONSORED AFFORDM%E HOUSING Pr437E=/ACrIVITIkS MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMEWS 1990-I991 I991-I992 1992-1993 on coumtmity Development (b commenced and completed con- . minced construction on 1. mcoicy Economic Development Corporation commenced on completed con- struction on 17disoison Gardens I . struction on Edison Gardens II Eklison655 N.W. 56th Street. 50 Apartments 50 Apartments (Family/Rental) 60 Apartments (Family/Rental) N.W. 58th & 59th Streets and N.W. 58th & 59th Streets and {Family/Rental) 7th Avenue.
