RESOLUTION NO. 9 2 - 721
A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE DR. MARTIN LUTHER
KING DAY PARADE TO BE HELD JANUARY 18, 1993,
PROVIDING FOR THE`_ CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED
STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC SUBJECT
TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS
OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION
SERVICES; FURTHER, AUTHORIZING THE PROVISION
OF IN -KIND SERVICES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $10,000 FROM THE DEPARTMENTS OF
POLICE, FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES,
GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION/SOLID WASTE,
PARKS AND RECREATION AND PUBLIC WORKS,
SUBJECT TO THE ORGANIZERS OBTAINING INSURANCE
TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT PRESCRIBED
BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE AND UPON
ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL COSTS OF NECESSARY
CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED
WITH SAID EVENT BEYOND THE AMOUNT AUTHORIZED
BY THIS RESOLUTION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage during the
Dr. Martin Luther King Day Parade, to be held on Monday,
January 18, 1993, the following streets are hereby closed to
through vehicular traffic from 7:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. as
specified below:
Northwest Sixty-second Street from Northwest Eighth Avenue
to Northwest Seventh Avenue.

Nortriwest Eighth Avenue from Sixty-first Street to Sixty-
fourth Street.
Included in the herein closure are all streets, avenues,
alleys, ways and thoroughfares which intersect the
enumerated areas delineated in this Section.
Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to State
approval and the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police
and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the
Department of Police is to be issued upon full approval of the
Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety
and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious
institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said
arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's
judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein.
Section 3. The provision of in -kind services in an amount
not to exceed $10,000 from the Departments of Police, Fire,
Rescue and Inspection Services,
General Services
Administration/Solid Waste, Parks and Recreation and Public Works
is hereby approved.
Section 4. Said authorizations are hereby conditioned upon
the organizers obtaining insurance to protect the City in the
amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee and
paying for all costs of necessary City services and applicable
fees associated with said event beyond the amount authorized by
this Resolution.

Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.
