WIEREAS, Florida State Statute 932.704(3)(a), as amended, authgrizes the of forfeiture proceeds for law enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and M EREAS, a large number of students from the City of Miami and Dade County areas have experienced a major disruption in their lives due to hurricane Andrea; and WHEREAS, the theater is an effective medium for the transmission of information to junior high and high school students regarding critical issues related to the hurricane; and W E. , a two prior productions, "Going For The Win," and "Agape" highly successful and were presented to over 60,000 students; and WHEREAS, the Coconut Grove Playhouse has proposed the production of a third play to be presented in area schools, and will include transporting students from hurricane affected areas to the Coconut Grove Playhouse to view performances; and WHEREAS, the cast rRambers will be trained in the area of counseling and will conduct post performance discussions; and CITY COMMISSION, MEETING OF. NOV 12 1992 Reeolution No. wHEFM, funds to covet the necessary expenses required for the above listed program have not been included in the Police Department's normal .s77s . ss- s WHEREAS,, the Chief of Police has adoption of this Resolution and has determined that the expenditures proposed comply with Florida State Statute 932.704, as amended; and wHERMS, funds to cwes the necessary expenses required for this program are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund; NOW, THMURE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CON,41SSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, i v. Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted. Section 2. The funding of a production of an anti -substance abuse hurricane related play, in conjunction with the Coconut Grove Playhouse, at a cost of $100,000, is herby approved, with funding to be provided from the City of Miami. Taw Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 029002-247, upon such costs having been approved by the Chief of Police. Section 3.
