HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-92-0702J-92-757 10/29/92 RESOLUTION NO. 92. 702 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION EXPRESSING APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION FOR A THREE-DAY STATE LIQUOR PERMIT BY FOODPACK OF THE AMERICAS, INC. FOR THE DISPLAY BY MANUFACTURERS OR DISTRIBUTORS OF PRODUCTS LICENSED UNDER THE STATE BEVERAGE LAW, AND ALSO FOR CONSUMPTION OF SUCH BEVERAGES ON THE PREMISES OF THE COCONUT GROVE CONVENTION CENTER, MIAMI, FLORIDA, DURING THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 13-151 1993, SUCH APPROVAL BEING A STATUTORY REQUISITE PRIOR TO THE STATE'S ISSUANCE OF SAID PERMIT. WHEREAS, Section 561.421 TEMPORARY CONVENTION PERMITS, the State Beverage Law, states that in convention halls, coliseums, and similar type buildings where there is an existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or board of county commissioners, the State Beverage Director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than five calendar days for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the premises only; and WHEREAS, the State Beverage Director requires the approval for the issuance of such permit from the City Commission for FoodPack of the Americas, Inc. for a show to be held at the Coconut Grove Convention Center in January, 1993; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMMU MEETING OF NOV 1 2 1992 ]Resolution Na 92- 702 y. C Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby expresses approval of the application by FoodPack of the Americas, Inc. .for a three-day state liquor permit to allow display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the State Beverage Law, and also for consumption of such beverages on the premises of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida, during the period of January 13-15, 1993, such approval being a statutory requisite prior to the State's issuance of said Permit. Odio, City Manager RECOMMENDATION: DATE : � .k � , W � �� V 2 FILE €t, ; ; 't `LJI 9� SUBJECT : Request from FoodPack of the Americas, Inc. for a a three-day liquor REFERENCES: permit on 01/13-15/93 ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution expressing its approval of the application for a three-day State liquor permit by FoodPack of the Americas, Inc., for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the State Beverage Law, and also for consumption of such beverages on the premises of the Coconut Grove Convention Center., Miami, Florida, during the period of January 13-15, 1993. (Lessee's request attached.) BACKGROUND: The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities has prepared the attached legislation. The Commission's approval of the application of a three-day liquor permit for FoodPack of the Americas, Inc., pursuant to Section 561.421 TEMPORARY CONVENTION PERMITS, of the State Beverage Law which states that "in convention halls, coliseums, and similar type buildings where there is an existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or board of county commissioners, the director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than five calender days for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law; and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the premises only". The State Beverage Director requires the request to emanate from the City Commission.
