WHEREAS, City Charter Section 4(g) and City Code Section 2-14 provide for the election and appointment of Vice - Mayor, said Vice -Mayor to perform the duties of the Mayor during the absence or disability of the Mayor; and WHEREAS, the term of office for said Vice -Mayor shall be one year; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 91-796, adopted November 14, 1991, the City Commission elected and appointed Commissioner Dr. Miriam Alonso to serve as Vice -Mayor for a one year term, commencing 12:00 noon on December 1, 1991; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Commissioner victor De Y11rrP is hereby elected and appointed as Vice -Mayor of the City of Miami, Florida, to serve a one year term, commencing at 12:00 noon on December 1, 1992. City Commission offers to appoint Commissioner Perez. Commissioner Perez declines stating he would like to be appointed for the following year. Commissioner Plummer invokes 5-day rule. However, item is reconsidered that same date and Commissioner Perez is appointed Vice Mayor. NOTE: Last four (4) Vice -Mayor appointments were: (SEAT II) Commissioner De Yurre in 1989 (SEAT V) Commissioner Dawkins ___________ in 1990 (SEAT III) Commissioner Plummer in 1991 (SEAT IV) Commissioner Alonso------------------ in 1992 NOTE: It seems that, if the City Commission were inclined to follow the last established sequence, the appointment would belong to Commissioner -Seat II.
