Home My WebLink AboutR-92-0645J-92-9 2/19/92 RESOLUTION NO. 9 2- 645 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS AS MEMBERS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI LATIN QUARTER REVIEW BOARD TO SERVE TERMS OF OFFICE AS DESIGNATED HEREIN. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Latin Quarter Review Board was established by Ordinance No. 9925, adopted October 10, 1984, to review plans and/or related documents, and to recommend approval or disapproval to the Planning, Building and Zoning Director for projects requiring a Class "II" special permit within the boundaries of the Latin Quarter District in accordance with the Latin Quarter Design Guidelines and Standards, other applicable guidelines and standards, and the intent of the Latin Quarter i Special Zoning District (SD-14, 14.1, and 14.2); and WHEREAS, the Latin Quarter Review Board consists of ten (10) members: three (3) members may be architects, two (2) members may be engineers, landscape architects or architects, but at least five (5) members shall be residents or business owners in the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, on September 28, 1.989, the City Commission designated five individuals to fill five vacancies on said Board i r for two-year terms expiring February 27, 1991, as follows: Silvio Diaz, Mariano Corral, Daniel Perez-Zarraga, Luis Sabines and Hector Gasca (in the categories of City of Miami resident or business owner and landscape architect), and two individuals to fill two vacancies for one-year terms expiring February 27, 1990, as follows: Mario Pestonit and Armando Cazo (in the category of resident or business owner and architect); and WHEREAS, on June 7, 1990, the City Commission designated four individuals to fill four vacancies on said Board for terms expiring on February 27, 1992, as follows: Tessi Garcia, Gloria Rosello, Angel C. Saqui, II and Antonio A. (Tony) Wagner (in the categories of City of Miami resident or business owner and architect); and WHEREAS, Section 62-78 of the City Code provides for the appointment or reappointment of Board Members; and WHEREAS, the regular terms of office for two (2) Board members expired on February 27, 1990 and said Board members have not been reappointed or removed from the Board; and WHEREAS, the regular terms of office for five (5) Board members expired on February 27, 1991 and said Board members have not been reappointed or removed from the Board; and WHEREAS, the regular terms of office for four (4) Board members expired on February 27, 1992 and said Board members have not been reappointed or removed from the Board; and WHEREAS, it is intended that members of the Latin Quarter, Review Board be persons of knowledge, experience, mature judgment and background, having the ability or special professional training and interest to act in the public interest in order to make informed and equitable decisions concerning architectural design, and protection and enhancement of the physical and cultural environment; and WHEREAS, ten (10) appointments need to be made. to the City of Miami Latin Quarter Review Board of five members for terms of office expiring February 27, 1994 and five members for terms of office expiring February 27, 1993; and WHEREAS, ideally, these appointments include three architects and two engineers, landscape architects or architects, although these categories are optional; and WHEREAS, at least five (5) of the members shall be City residents or have their principal place of business in the City; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. BACKGROUND At the March 12, 1992, City Commission meeting, each member of the City Commission appointed two members for the Latin Quarter Review Board. However, it was not specified whether said members were appointed for a one or a two year term as required. It is necessary at this time to designate which one of your appointees shall serve a one year term and which one shall serve a two year term and the category (resident or business owner, architect, landscape architect, or engineer of each appointment.
