FOR THE FURNISHING OF A HEAVY DUTY SCREENING MACHINE AT A PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $62,627.50 FOR THE DEPAR'T1KM OF CORAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION AND SOLID WASTE; ALTACATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE FY '91-92 SOLID WASTE REDUCTION, RECYCLING AND EDUCATION GRANT FUND, PRCOECT NO. 197004, ACCOLM CODE NO. 421302-840; ALT1'HORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received September 23, 1992 for the purchase of a heavy-duty screening machine for the Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to twelve (12) potential bidders and two (2) bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for said purchase are available from the FY '91-92 Solid Waste Reduction, Recycling and Education Grant Fund, Project No. 197004, Account Code No. 421302-840; and WHEREAS, this equipment is to be used to separate soils and other types of granular material into various camponents at the City's Virginia Key Composting Facility; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Assistant City Manager in charge of the Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste recamnend that the bid received from Ray Pace's Waste Equipment Company, Inc. be accepted as the lowest most responsible and responsive bid; CITY CONIIVIISSION MEETING OF, 0 C T a 8 1992 Resotutfon No. 92-- 625 NOW, THEREEORE, HE IT ]RESOLVED Sit THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, F-ORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The September 23, 1992 bid of Ray Pace's Waste Equipment Carpany, Inc. in the amount of $62,627.50 for the furnishing of a Heavy Duty Screening Machine for the Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from FY 191-92 Solid Waste Reduction, Recycling and Education Grant Fund, Project No. 197004, Account Code No. 421302-840; Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a Purchase Order for this equipment. Section 4. Screening Machine City Manager ENCLOSURES It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution for the purchase 'of one (1) Heavy Duty Screening Machine to be utilized at the City's Virginia Key Composting Facility, to be awarded to Ray Pace's Waste Equipment, Co., Inc. a non -minority, non -local vendor, located at 9365 Phillips Hwy., Jacksonville, Florida, as the lowest most responsible and responsive bidder in accordance with Bid No. 92- 93-004. The Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste has analyzed bids received pursuant to Bid No. 92-93-004, for the purchase of one (1) Heavy Duty Screening Machine. A total of two (2) vendors responded to this bid. The recommended vendor is Ray Pace's Waste Equipment, Inc., a non -minority vendor, located at 9365 Phillips Hwy., Jacksonville, Florida at a proposed cost of $62,627.50. This equipment is to be used by the Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste to ensure that the recycling and mulching process at the Virginia Key Composting Facility is met. The selected equipment is deemed to be in the best, long-term interest of the City on the basis of its design to separate yard and garden trash that has been recycled by the process of turning material that has been placed in windrows to produce compost and its tonnage capacity.
