RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION RESCINDING RESOLUTION
NO. 91-606, ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 11, 1991, IN
ITS ENTIRETY, WHICH AUTHORIZED THE DONATION
OF CATEGORY "A" SURPLUS STOCK TO THE CITY OF
PORT -AU -PRINCE, IN THE REPUBLIC OF HAITI;
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVISE THE CITY
COMMISSION AS TO THE AVAILABILITY OF CATEGORY
"A" SURPLUS STOCK SHOULD THE EMBARGO OF GOODS
RECENTLY PLACED UPON SAID NATION BE LIFTED;
CLASSIFYING ONE HUNDRED (100) SURPLUS SOLID
WASTE CONTAINERS, TWO (2) SURPLUS SWEEPERS,
FOUR (4) SURPLUS 32-YARD RUBBISH TRUCKS, SIX
(6) SURPLUS 20-YARD GARBAGE PACKING TRUCKS,
ONE (1) SURPLUS POLE TRUCK CRANE, THREE (3)
SURPLUS TANK TRUCKS, ONE (1) SURPLUS LUBE
TRUCK, TWO (2) SURPLUS 20-YARD PACKING BODIES
(NO TRUCK), TWO (2) SURPLUS WHEELCHAIR VANS,
TWELVE (12) SURPLUS SUB -COMPACT CARS, AND
EIGHT (8) SURPLUS MEDIUM -SIZE CARS, AS
CATEGORY "A" SURPLUS STOCK, SHOULD SUCH
EQUIPMENT BECOME AVAILABLE, AND DONATING THE
SAME, AFTER THE EXECUTION OF THE APPROPRIATE
RELEASE DOCUMENTS AND PREPAYMENT OF THE
APPLICABLE SHIPPING CHARGES BY RECIPIENT, TO
THE PROVINCE OF MONTE PLATA, IN THE DOMINICAN
REPUBLIC, SUCH DONATION TO BE VALID AND
EFFECTIVE BETWEEN MAY 28, 1992 AND MAY 27,
1993; SAID EQUIPMENT TO BE USED BY THE
PROVINCE OF MONTE PLATA IN ITS MUNICIPAL
HEALTH, RESCUE, AND SANITATION EFFORTS, WITH
ALL REPAIR, TRANSPORTATION, PACKING, AND
SHIPPING COSTS TO BE BORNE BY THE PROVINCE OF
MONTE PLATA.
WHEREAS, it is no longer appropriate to donate surplus
equipment to the Sister City of Port-au-Prince, in the Republic
of Haiti, due to the embargo of goods placed on said nation by
the United States of America and other member nations of the
Organization of America States; and

WHEREAS, the Health, Rescue and Sanitation Departments of
the Province of Monte Plata, in the Dominican Republic, are in
need of equipment to be used in their municipal health, rescue,
and sanitation efforts; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has surplus equipment that could
be used for such purposes; and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Commission that the
above -noted surplus equipment, if available, be donated to the
Province of Monte Plata, in the Dominican Republic;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
section.
Section 2. Resolution No. 91-606, adopted
September 11, 1991, is hereby rescinded in its entirety, thereby
rescinding the the authorization to donate surplus stock to the
City of Port -Au -Prince, in the Republic of Haiti.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to advise
the City Commission as to the availablity of any Category "A"
Surplus Stock should -the embargo of goods recently placed upon
said Nation be lifted.
Section 4. One hundred (100) surplus solid waste
containers, two (2) surplus sweepers, four (4) surplus 32-yard
rubbish trucks, six (6) surplus 20-yard garbage packing trucks,

one (1) surplus pole truck crane, three (3) surplus tank trucks,

one (1) surplus lube truck, two (2) surplus 20-yard packing
bodies (no truck), two (2) surplus wheelchair vans, twelve (12)
surplus sub -compact cars, and eight (8) surplus medium -size cars,
are hereby classified as Category "A" Surplus Stock, should such
Equipment become available as surplus City stock; as stipulated
in Section 18-51.4 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as
amended.
Section 5. Within the period of May 28, 1992 and
May 27, 1993, said Category "A" Surplus Stock is hereby donated,
upon the execution of the appropriate release documents and
prepayment of the applicable shipping charges by recipient, to
the Province of Monte Plata, in the Dominican Republic, to be
used by the Province of Monte Plata in its municipal health,
rescue, and sanitation efforts, with all repair, transportation,
packing, and shipping costs being borne by the Province of Monte
Plata.
Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.
