A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF A MULTI -ACTIVITY MODULAR PLAY STRUCTURE TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN CURTIS PARK, HAVING AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF $50,000, FROM THE KIWANIS CLUB OF LITTLE HAVANA, INC. IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY'S "PRIDE IN MIAMI PARKS" ADOPT - A -PARK PROGRAM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO AUTHORIZE CONSTRUCTION AND TO ACCEPT SAID DONATION. WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, Ino. have committed themselves to participate in the City of Miami's "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park Program; and WHEREAS, this organization proposes to construct a creative play struoture in Curtis Park at no cost to the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, said project is in full agreement with the "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park Program philosophy as expressed by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has expressed his endorsement of this cooperative effort and recommends approval by the Commission; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: . The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The donation of a multi-aotivity modular play structure to be constructed in Curtis Park, having a total estimated value of $50,000, from the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, Inc., is hereby accepted in accordance with the City of Miami's Adopt -A -Park Program entitled "Pride in Miami Parks". Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute necessary documentsI/, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to authorize construction and to accept said donation. Section 4. Od i CNCL09URi.9 . r- City Manager ec— BEClJMM�i3D�,T�Q,i9 = It is reapectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached gesolution to accept the donation of a multi -activity modular play structure to be constructed in Curtis Park, having an estimated value of $50,000, from the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, Inc., in accordance with the City of Miami's Adopt -A -Park Program entitled "Pride in Miami Parks". The legislation would further authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents to initiate and complete this project. �I t The Department of Parks and recreation has prepared the attached legislation. The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, Inc. has once again offered to participate in the City of Miami's "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park program. This organization proposes to construct a creative play structure in Curtis Park at no cost to the City of Miami, utilizing donations of materials and labor from private corporations and individuals. This project is in full agreement with the "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park Program philosophy as expressed by the City Commission, combining the resources of the private and public sectors to meet the needs of the community. The City Manager along with the Parks and Recreation ]Department have expressed endorsement of this cooperative effort and recommends approval by the Commission. 92- 482
