Resolution Funding the Guardian
Ad Litem Program
It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution funding the
Guardian Ad Litem Program, and allocating funds therefor from the
Law Enforcement Trust Fund, in an amount not to exceed $4,900, be
approved.
The Police Department supports the efforts of those groups
committed to the protection of the children in our society. Many
children find that they are first abused or neglected by parents
and then are abused by an overcrowded, underfunded social service
system. The Guardian Ad Litem Program offers a ray of hope to
these children through volunteers who represent them in the
courts, with H.R.S. and other social service agencies. This
funding would be used for the training of these volunteers so
that they may represent these children competently.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution authorizing the
funding of the Guardian Ad Litem Program, and allocating funds
therefor in the amount of $4,900, funding to be provided from the
Law Enforcement Trust. Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code
029002-247, be approved.
