A RESOLUTION, WITH ATTACHMENT, ACCEPTING IN PRINCIPLE, THE LANDSCAPE BEAUTIFICATION PLAN FOR BISCAYNE BOULEVARD AS THE LANDSCAPE GUIDEL?NES FOR BISCAYNE BOULEVARD FROM 48TH STREET TO 87TH STREET. WHEREAS, Biscayne Boulevard (the "Boulevard") has been recognized as a primary corridor and entrance to Miami; and WHEREAS, the condition of the Boulevard has deteriorated in the past years and the Boulevard's image is no longer consistent with its role; and WHEREAS, a landscape beautification plan, attached hereto as Exhibit "A", has been prepared by the Public Works and the Planning, Building and Zoning Departments for the Boulevard from 48th Street to 87th Street, as directed by the City Commission pursuant to Motion No. 92-140, adopted February 18, 1992; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The landscape beautification plan for Biscayne Boulevard prepared by the Public Works and the Planning, Building and Zoning Departments, which includes landscape !ATTACHMENT (5) CONTAINED CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF J U N 1 1 1992 9 �eaolutio121 2 1 improvements on the public right-of-way, attached hereto as Exhibit "A", is hereby accepted, in principle, as the landscape guidelines for Biscayne Boulevard from 48th Street to 87th Street. Section 3. The intent of said landscape beautification plan is to: a. Create a common identity along Biscayne Boulevard connecting the various neighborhoods through the use of Royal Palms to define the Boulevard; and b. Emphasize the entrances to the different neighborhoods, to create a sense of place and arrival through the use of flowering and shade trees. Sectioh 4. Resolution to approve in principle the Landscape Beautification Plan qUEPENCES Item 3 - personal appearance Cesar H. 0 a- ENCLOSURES City Commission Agenda City Manage February 18, 1992 RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that attached resolution which approves in Plan for the landscape guidelines for 81th Street. BACKGROUND the City Commission formally adopt the principle the Landscape Beautification Biscayne Boulevard from 48th Street to The City Commission on the meeting of February 18, 1992 instructed the Planning, Building and Zoning Department and the Public Works Department to prepare a Landscape Beautification Plan for Biscayne Boulevard from 48th Street to 81th Street. The City Administration respectfully request that the City Commission express its intent by adopting this resolution. 92- 421
