A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE MIAMI DADE COMMUNITY COLLEGE NEW WORLD SCHOOL OF THE ARTS GRADUATION RECEPTION TO BE CONDUCTED ON JUNE 18, 1992; AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES; CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT AND OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage during the Miami Dade Community College New World School of the Arts Graduation Reception, the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic from 5:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M., on Thursday, June 18, 1992, as specified below: Northeast Second Street from Northeast First Avenue to North Miami Avenue. Included in the herein closure are all streets, avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which intersect the enumerated areas delineated in this Section. Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to State approval and issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the Department of Police is to be issued upon the full approval of CITY Cor assrolt + MEETING OE �a JU N 1 1 1992 n*solndon Na 92- 383.1 the Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety and traffic needs of residents, businesses and religious institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein. Section 3. The herein approvals and authorizations are hereby conditioned upon the organizers paying for all necessary costs of City services and applicable fees associated with said event and obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 11th day of Jun , 1992. [ER L. Dear Commissioner Plummer, June 4, 1882 New World School of the Arts High Sehool`ib requesting to be added as a pocket or emergency item on the`genda for the meeting on Thursday, Juno ilth. This is so we may requeat.that..NE Second Street between N. Miami Avenue and let Avenue be cordoned off for a graduation reception an Thursday, June 16th from 5:30 PH - 10:00 PH. The time is allocated -as such: at 8:40 PM our graduation procession marches from our school to The Ousman Theater where we hold our commencement ceremony. The program is complete by 8:15 PH and the graduates, along with the faculty, staff, and par*nts return to the front of the school for the reception. The permit for the procession along the two blocks between our school and Gunman has already been approved by the Police Department. �E The PTSA sponsored thin reception last year and it worked beautifully having the street reserved. we do not have a multi --purpose room to hold such an event and thus request the use of the street. I appreciate your consideration in this matter and look ' forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
