HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-92-0350Aft J-92-442 1 6/28/92 RESOLUTION NO. y 5 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING TO GOVERNOR LAWTON CHILES THE CITY COMMISSION'S CONVICTION THAT ANY TAX PROPOSAL ADOPTED BY THE LEGISLATURE MUST AID THE CITIES AS WELL AS OTHER SEGMENTS OF GOVERNMENT; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN NAMED OFFICIALS. WHEREAS, the City Commission is deeply concerned with the financial difficulties facing our oities; and WHEREAS, the Governor's ourrent tax nronosal dnAn not address said monetary needs; and WHEREAS, said tax proposal is geared towards helping the school system, and not other governmental institutions; and WHEREAS, it is the City Commission's belief that if said tax proposal helps one system of the State, namely the school system, then the Governor has an obligation to help the cities which are in as dire need as the school system; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings oontained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. The City Commission hereby expresses to Governor Lawton Chiles its conviction that any tax proposal adopted by the legislature must aid the cities as well as other segments of government. Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Governor Lawton Chiles,, Senate President Gwen Margolis, Speaker of the House T.K. Wetherall, and all members of the Dade Delegation. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 28th_ day,,6F 1992.
