RESOLUTION NO. 9 2! 333
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE LOAN AGREEMENT
(DATED NOVEMBER 26, 1991), IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, BETWEEN THE
CITY OF MIAMI AND THE HAITIAN AMERICAN
FOUNDATION, INC., TO EXTEND THE DATE OF
REPAYMENT ON SAID LOAN ONE YEAR TO SEPTEMBER
30, 1993.
WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 91-789
on November 14, 1991, authorizing the City Manager to enter into
a loan agreement (the "Agreement") for an amount not to exceed
$50,000, with the Haitian Amerioan Foundation, Inc.
("Foundation") to operate a cultural understanding program within
the Haitian community for the period October 1, 1991 through
September 30, 1992; and
WHEREAS, due to budget restrictions, the Foundation cannot
repay the Loan by the maturity date specified in the Agreement;
and
WHEREAS, because of the impact that the Foundation has on
the community, the City is willing to extend the repayment date
for one (1) vear;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the " R
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference t
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this `

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized/ to =_
execute an amendment to the Loan Agreement, dated
November 25, 1991, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney,
between the City of Miami and the Haitian American Foundation,
Inc. to extend the repayment date of said loan one year to
September 30, 1993.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

The purpose of this letter is to request a hearing from

The reason we have not been able to raise these funds are

All of the above conditions has placed the Foundation in

been targeted instead to alleviate the conditions of those
family members returned to Haiti by the Coast Guard.
We do not foresee these conditions changing on the near
future, thus the request to convert the loan into a.
grant.
