ON TUESDAY, JULY 14, 1992; AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES; CONDITIONING ALL APPROVALS AND AUTHORIZATIONS GRANTED HEREIN UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR THE NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT AND OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE. WHEREAS, the Renaissance Historical Society of Florida, Inc. will conduct an open house on Bastille Day Tuesday, July 141 1992; and WHEREAS, certain streets must be closed to through vehicular traffic in connection with the event during specified dates and hours to insure the safety of participants and pedestrians attending this event; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage during Bastille Day to be conducted by the Renaissance Historical Society of Florida, Inc., the following streets are hereby closed CITY CONWSSION MEETING OF. MAY 1 4 IR92 Resolution No. 92-- 295 to through vehicular traffic on Tuesday, July 14, 1992, from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon, as specified below: North Miami Avenue from Northwest Thirty-fifth Street to Northwest Thirty-sixth Street. Included in the herein closure are all streets, avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which intersect the enumerated areas delineated in this Section. Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to State approval and issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the Department of Police is to be issued upon full approval of the Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said arterials and upon the exercise of the City Manager's judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein. Section 3. The herein approvals and authorizations are hereby conditioned upon the organizers obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee and paying for all costs of City services and fees associated with said event. Odi.o City Manager RECOMMENDATION: DATE : APR 2 31992 FILE SUBJECT: Resolution/Street Closures for Bastille Day REFERENCES: Commission Agenda Item ENCLOSURES: May 14, 1992 It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the closure of certain streets for "Bastille Day" to be conducted by the Renaissance Historical Society of Florida, Inc. on Tuesday, July 14, 1992. BACKGROUND: The Department of Community Development has prepared the appropriate legislation to authorize the closure of certain streets in connection with "Bastille Day" , a yearly event recreating the "Storming of the Bastille", to be conducted by the Renaissance Historical Society of Florida, Inc. on Tuesday, July 14, 1992, the anniversary of the French Revolution.
