WHEREAS, Florida State Statute 932.704(3)(a), as amended, authorizes the expenditure of forfeiture proceeds for law enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and E W.Hmwm, the City of Miami supports those groups dedicated to assisting the children of our cemmunity in becoming responsible and productive citizens; and WHEREAS, One Art Inc. IsI Kids Off Streets Program,, targets high risk students and involves them in productive cultural activities; and WHEREAS, the Program services Little River, Wynwood, Little Haiti, Edison, and Overhown areas; and Wes, the Chief of Police has reeamnnded adoption of this Resolution and has that the expenditures proposed comply with Florida State Statute 932.704, as amended; and MIEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses required for this programs are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund; NOW, Tmwmr BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CCRUSSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, C= CONIICSSION MEETING OF MAY 14 1992 Ataoluu" No. 92- 284 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Pile to this Resolution are hereby adapted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Funding of the Kids Off Streets Program is hereby authorized, with funds therefor, in an amount not to exceed $10,000, being allocated from the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 029002-247, such costs having been approved by the Chief of Police. Odio City Manager DATE : APR 1 U 1992 FILE SUBJECT : Resolution Funding the Kids Off Streets Program REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDAI lN: It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution funding the Kids Off Streets Program, in the amount of $10,000, be approved. BACKGROUND: The Police Department supports the efforts of those groups responsible for, and dedicated to, improving the quality of life - for the children in our community. The Kids Off Streets Program targets high risk students and involves them in productive cultural activities during the critical after -school hours. The Program operates in One Art, Inc -Is, dance studio and will service Little Haiti, Wynwood, Edison, Little River, and - Overtown.
