HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-92-0213U U J-92-213 3/4/92 RESOLUTION NO. 9 2_ 2 1 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION EXPRESSING APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION FOR A THREE-DAY STATE LIQUOR PERMIT BY FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT, HOTEL & BAKERY EXPO., INC., FOR THE DISPLAY BY MANUFACTURERS OR DISTRIBUTORS OF PRODUCTS LICENSED UNDER THE STATE BEVERAGE LAW, AND ALSO FOR CONSUMPTION OF SUCH BEVERAGES ON THE PREMISES OF THE COCONUT GROVE CONVENTION CENTER, MIAMI, FLORIDA, DURING THE PERIOD OF JULY 17-19, 1992, SUCH APPROVAL BEING A STATUTORY REQUISITE PRIOR TO THE STATE'S ISSUANCE OF SAID PERMIT. WHEREAS, Section 561.421 TEMPORARY CONVENTION PERMITS, the State Beverage Law states that in convention halls, coliseums, and similar type buildings where there is an existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or board of county commissioners, the director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than five calendar days for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the premises only; and WHEREAS, the State Beverage Director requires the approval of such permit's issuance from the City Commission for liquor display and consumption during the herein show to be held at the Coconut Grove Convention Center in July, 1992; 'CITY COMMISSION MEETI11C OF Resolution No. 92- 213 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by referenoe thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby approves the application by Florida International Restaurant, Hotel & Bakery, Expo, Inc. for a three-day liquor permit to allow display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law and to allow consumption of such beverages on the premises of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida, during the period of duly 17-19, 1992. Odio a three-day liquor City Manager ENCLOSURES permit on 7/17-29/92 G RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution expressing its approval of the. application for a three-day State liquor permit by Florida International Restaurant, Hotel & Bakery Expo., Inc., for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the State Beverage Law, and also for consumption of such beverages on + the premises of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, during Florida, f, g the period of July 17-19, 1992. (Lessee's request attached.) i i BACKGROUND: i ' The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities 1 ; has prepared the attached legislation. The Commission's approval of the application of a three-day liquor permit for Florida International Restaurant, Hotel & Bakery Expo., Inc., pursuant to Section 561.421 TEMPORARY CONVENTION PERMITS, of the State Beverage Law which states that "in convention halls, coliseums, and similar type buildings where there is an existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or board of county commissioners, the director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than five calender days ' for the display by manufacutueres or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law; and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the premises only". The State Beverage Director requires the request to emanate from ' the City Commission.
