FOR THE PURCHASE OF THREE (3) GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE AT THE PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $8,850.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND PROJECT NO. 690001, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 290954-875; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS ACQUISITION. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received January 8, 1992 for the furnishing of three (3) German Shepherd Dogs to be used by the K-9 Unit of the Police Department; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to nine (9) potential suppliers and two (2) bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund Project No. 690001, Account Code No. 290954-875; and WHEREAS, these dogs will be used to replace existing aging dogs in the K-9 Unit scheduled for retirement; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Police recommend that the bid received from Wolff's Kennel, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF APR 0 2 1992 Rosolution No. 92- 209 �A Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The January 8, 1992 bid of Wolff's Kennel, Inc. for the furnishing of three (3) German Shepherd Dogs to the Department of Police at a total proposed cost of $8,850.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund Project No. 690001, Account Code No. 290954-875. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a Purchase Order for this acquisition. Section 4. The police department has reviewed the bids of prospective vendors, for the provision of purebred German Shepherd dogs, submitted on January 8, 1992. Two vendors submitted responsive bids, with Wolff's Kennels, Inc., submitting the lowest bid. Wolff's Kennels, Inc., is a minority vendor, located in the City of Hialeah. Ms. Anne Whittaker was contacted in reference to Minority Participation and she concurs with the Department's recommendation.
