RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE MIAMI CORPORATE
RUN, A 3.5 MILE RUNNING EVENT, TO BE CONDUCTED
BY FOOT WORKS RACE MANAGEMENT ON MAY 13, 1992;
AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED STREETS
TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC SUBJECT TO THE
ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF
POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION
SERVICES; FURTHER CONDITIONING ALL APPROVALS
AND AUTHORIZATIONS HEREIN UPON THE ORGANIZERS
PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY
SERVICES AND FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE EVENT
AND OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN
THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER
OR HIS DESIGNEE.
WHEREAS, Foot Works Race Management will conduct the Miami
Corporate Run, a 3.5 mile running event, on Wednesday, May 13,
1992; and
WHEREAS, certain streets and portions thereof should be
closed to through vehicular traffic on the specified date and
during the specified hours to ensure the safety of participants,
spectators, and pedestrians during said event;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage during the
Miami Corporate Run the following streets are hereby closed to
through vehicular traffic from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on
Wednesday, May 13, 1992, as specified below:

Biscayne Boulevard from Flagler Street to Northeast _
Sixth Street.
Northeast Second Avenue from Northeast Sixth Street
over Briokell Bridge to Brickell Avenue.
Brickell Avenue (over Briokell Bridge) from Southeast
Fourth Street to Southwest Thirteen Street.
Southwest Thirteen Street from Brickell Avenue to South
Miami Avenue.
South Miami Avenue from Southwest Thirteen Street to
Southwest Fifteen Road.
Southwest Fifteen Road from South Miami Avenue to
Brickell Avenue.
Brickell Avenue (over Briokell Bridge) from Southwest
Fifteen Road to Southeast Fourth Street.
Southeast Fourth Street from Brickell Avenue to
Southeast Third Avenue.
Southeast Third Avenue from Southeast Fourth Street to
Flagler Street.
Flagler Street from Southeast Third Avenue to Bayfront
Park.
Included in the herein closure are all streets,
avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which intersect
the enumerated areas delineated in this Section.
Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to State
approval and issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and
Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the
Department of Police is to be issued upon full approval of the
Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety
and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious
institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said
arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's
judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein.

Section 3. The herein authorizations are hereby conditioned
upon the organizers paying for all necessary costs of City
services and fees associated with the event, and obtaining
insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the
City Manager or his designee.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon the its adoption.

ENCLOSURES, March 12, 1992
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution related to the Miami Corporate Run, a 3.5 mile
running event, to be conducted by Foot Works Race Management, on
Wednesday, May 13, 1992, authorizing the closure of designated
streets to through vehicular traffic, subject to the issuance of
permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and
Inspection Services. This authorization is conditioned upon the
organizers paying for the costs of all necessary City services and
_ subject to the organizers obtaining insurance to protect the City
in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Community Development has prepared the
appropriate legislation to approve the closure of certain streets
in Downtown Miami during the Miami Corporate Run, a 3.5 mile
running event, on Wednesday, May 13, 1992, to be conducted by Foot
Works Race Management.
This event is a well organized annual. event. The organizers have
met with the Police Department to design the race course so that
major thoroughfares remain partially open to vehicular traffic,
thereby minimizing traffic disruption in the area of the race.
