Box 696 Miami, Florida 33133 (305) 285-9499 January 14, 1992 Mr. Cesar Odio, City Manager City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, Florida 33133 Dear Mr. Odio: The Coconut Grove Bicycle Club, Inc., a not -for -profit Florida Corporation, in conjunction with The Miami Wheelers Bicycle Club, Inc., wish to hold the Great Coconut Grove Bicycle Race on Sunday, March 29th, 1992. We submitted a request on 1/6/92 for the date of March 9th; this was an error. We will meet with the Festival Committee on January 28th. We will also be meeting with the City of Miami Police Department and the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce in the immediate future. I respectfully request that our application for the necessary street closures be included in an upcoming City Commission agenda. We also request a waiver of the provision of Ordinance #10764 ("...creating a Coconut Grove Special Events District...") calling for the submission of our application 120 days prior to the date of the event. Our reason for not submitting our application until now is that race sponsorship did not finalize until January 9th, 1992. We plan no changes from the past several years in terms of times or street closure locations. Inasmuch as this will be the 19th edition of our event, we are "grandfathered" with respect to certain aspects of the new regulations governing events in Coconut Grove. h k you.
