City Manager ENCLOSURES
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached Resolution accepting the donation of funds pledged and
collected as part of the "Spirit of Miami" Employee's Gift to
Miami Drive, in the approximate amount of $17,169 for the purpose
of equipping the new "Spirit of Miami" Rescue Truck.
BACKGROUND:
As you are aware, this year the City of Miami Employees,
Management and Unions decided to join together as a partnership
to purchase a new rescue truck and give it as a gift to the
resicents of Miami from the employees. Although this goal was
not met there was significant participation by many City
Employees. Approximately 460 employees donated $17,169 toward
this first-time effort in celebration of a new era and "Spirit"
of Labor and Management cooperation and partnership.
Labor-Managemen Representatives have therefore oecided that the
collected funds should be used to medically equip the new rescue
unit that the City Commission has requested be purchased. It was
felt that this gift of equipping the new "Spirit of Miami" Rescue
would be in keeping with the original intent of the combined
employee efforts.
