Od City Manager RECOMMENDATION: SUBJECT ls L: 2 1991 FILE Resolution Appointing Two (2) Members to the Private Industry Council of So. Fla. REFERENCES: City Commission Agenda ENCLOSURES: January 9, 1992 It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution which appoints two (2) members to the Private Industry Council of South Florida. BACKGROUND: Legislation has been prepared for the City Commission to appoint two (2) members to the Private Industry Council (PIC) of South Florida. In order to comply with the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) of 1982, the PIC was established in 1983. The law provides for a partnership between the PIC and local elected officials in each service delivery area to oversee the implementation of JTPA programs. The JTPA stipulates that local elected officials shall appoint the members of the PIC, which is comprised of representatives from the following areas: Economic Development, Community Based Organizations, Education, Labor, Job Service, Vocational Rehabilitation and the Private Sector.
