A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE "UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI CHAMPIONSHIP PARADE" TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI AND METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 1992, TO CELEBRATE THE MIAMI HURRICANES' VICTORY AT THE ORANGE BOWL; AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES; FURTHER ESTABLISHING AN AREA PROHIBITED TO RETAIL PEDDLERS DURING THE PERIOD OF THE EVENT; AUTHORIZING THE PROVISION OF IN -KIND SERVICES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $6,500 FROM THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE, FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES, GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION/SOLID WASTE AND PARKS AND RECREATION; FURTHER WAIVING ALL CITY FEES ALLOWED TO BE WAIVED BY THE CITY CODE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami and Metropolitan Dade County will conduct the "University of Miami Championship Parade" on Friday, January 24, 1992, to celebrate the Miami Hurricanes' victory at the Orange Bowl.; and WHEREAS, certain streets must be closed to through vehicular traffic during specified dates and hours to insure the safety of participants and pedestrians attending this event; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: s- �` 6 �...�Titi=y..C, v..3.1sir...ifY«��.Ji.ar�.illil:II►II:.0.�wtYa+�- s.t.�e"��.��J.��•.I�. CITY COT=MISSION N!MING OF ta, JAN 9 1992 .92-- �8 RESOLUTION He. Section 1. In order to effeotuate safe passage during the "University of Miami Championship Parade" to be conducted by the City of Miami and Metropolitan Dade County to celebrate the Miami Hurricanes' victory at the Orange Bowl, the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic on Friday, January 24, 1992, from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., as specified below: Flagler Street from West First Avenue to Biscayne Boulevard. Included in the herein closure are all streets, avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which intersect the enumerated areas delineated in this Section. Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to State approval and issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the Department of Police is to be issued upon the full approval of the Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety and traffio needs of residents, businesses and religious institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said arterials and upon the exercise of the City Manager's judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein. Section 3. Pursuant to the provision of City Code Section 39-13, all retail peddlers' occupational licenses issued under the provisions of Chapter 31 of the City Code, as amended, will not be valid in the area of public right-of-way included on the above designated streets and on all intersecting streets for -2- 9 2 - 18 { f two blocks in all directions during the dates and hours specified herein. Section 4. The provision of in -kind services in an amount not to exceed $6,500 from the Departments of Police, Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services, General. Services Administration/Solid Waste, and Parks and Recreation is hereby approved. Section 8. All City fees allowed to be waived by the City Code are hereby waived. Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
