The main purpose of the event Is to provide a source of Fundraisirsg to assist the Youth of Miami in the Aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. It will also provide much needed relaxation and entertainment for South Florida's population, a diversion badly needed by those upon whom Hurricane Andrew has inBioted a groat psyohologioal toll and tremendous bases. Additionally, our planned every will be a message to the world that Mlamrs Tourism end Intst ria tional Trade are alive and well. The history of International Soarer Events in Miami shows that foreign professional teams attract or bring to Miami over 2 planeloads of tourists or fans. Most of these foreign visitors we business people who, during their stay, take the opportunity to do business - international trade, reviewing their import orders or pladpp new orders, considering investtner4% m*Jng deposits In banks, s 11M, do. 77welore, blur well itnown soccer teams from South America, Central America, Ahica, and possibly Spain will be the protagonists in our Event. Due to their busy national league toumamerds which are currently being played, 4 Is not possible at this time to determine exactly which four teams will be involved in our sports event. We are working with their national professiorW leagues and the krdlvidual teams to make the tines deterrnirwiom Along with the International s000er matctws, we plan to otter a ouRurdl extravaganza with some Latin American foftdorlc groups and artists. We are working out the details of such a combined sports - cultural event. As a result of a conversation I had on September 4, 1992 with an offidal of the Panamanian airline COPA, the ainfine has offered to briny the t3 LET FOLKLORICO DE PANAMA for our proposed fundraising event. We have also gotten a positive response from senior offldals of AMERICAN AIRUNES and HERTZ RENT A CAR. COPA, AMERICAN AIRLINES and HERTZ have ON agreed to cot:eider adkV as major sponsors of the even. They are wafting to recehre our tormai proposal.
