THE MIAMI PROJECT TO CARE PARALYSIS
UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
October 30, 1992
Mr. Cesar H. Odio, City Manager
City of Miami
3600 Pan American Dr.
Miami, FL 33133
Dear Mr. Qdio:
1 would like to take this opportunity to request a personal appearance from a member
of my staff, before the City Commission on November 12, 1992, to request that the
Commission authorize the use of certain streets on South Bayshore Dr. and other
adjacent streets. We also request the waiver of all those fees that are waivable by City
Code, in connection with The Women's Guild 4th Annual Walk-A-Thon, benefiting The
Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. The walk is scheduled for Sunday February 28, 1992,
from 8:00 A.M. till 11:00 A.M. Coconut Grove, Florida. The walk will begin at Kennedy
Park, traveling down South Bayshore Drive, past Mercy hospital, around Alice Wainwright
Park, out to Rickenbacker Causeway finishing at the underpass and returning to Kennedy
Park.
As you know, The Miami Project is the world's largest research effort dedicated to finding
more effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for paralysis resulting from spinal cord
Injury. We are a non-profit charitable organization. In fact, .86 cents on every dollar we
raise goes directly to support our vital scientific research.
We are hopeful the City Commissioners %,III allow The Miami Project to utilize partial and
temporary use. of the above mentioned route for this fund raising event. On behalf of the
Women's Guild and the entire Miami Project Family, thanks for taking a step forward for
those who can't.
Sincerely,
Nick Buoniconti
