This is a request for support from the City of Miami to help fund the first annual McDonald's/PACE Black
Music Month Award, 'MusicFest'.
y McDonald's/PACE Black Music Month Award,'MusicFest' is McDonald's and PACE'S recognition to Black
Music Month, a celebration that was started In 1979 by the Black Music Association in an effort to
enhance the awareness of black music. The'MusleFest' is a competition and music gala featuring local
performers from the community. Participants will compete in the following categories : blues,
contemporary gospel, caribbean, jazz and rhythm and blues. The'MusicFest' will showcase the first place
_ winner of each category and the performance of special guest artists 'Atlantic Starr. The date of the
event is Saturday, July 11, 1992 and will be held at the Bayfront Park from 6 to 10 p.m. A percentage of
the proceeds will be donated to Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
