Honourable Mayor Suarez: It's my great pleasure to rise to the occasion and sincerely greet you and the townspeople of Miami. The City Hall of Moscow along with several unions and associations of businessmen has set up the Moscow Foundation for Small Business Support. Its Board is chaired by Mir Alexander Yoffe, who at the same time is my advisor on small and medium business affairs and heads the corresponding Moscow City Government Council. Mr Yoffe has informed me on the visit of the Foundation Delegation to Miami for the ' Telecom--92' Conference in March, 1992, and about his meetings with the businessmen of Florida and their mutual idea to found the Moscow Business Center in Miami. While on the one hand businessmen of our countries feel great hunger for the needed information exchange, and on the other - trade, commercial and other business and cultural contacts are snowballing, I have found it very timely to set up a Center of this kind that would contribute considerably to the development of our cities. The Office of the Mayor of Moscow supports the project and I hope that you, honourable Mr Mayor, will render possible assistance and patronage. With best regards, Yourly Lm zhkov Vice -Mayor of Moscow, Honorary Citizen of the City of Miami 002461 1 Sc uSSrc 92— 9~ 73• 1 l MOSCOSINESS DEVELOPMENT FOUNDA Moscow Business Development Foundation is independent and nonprofitable organiza- tion. It was set up in 1990 with participation and under auspices of Moscow Mayor's Office. Moscow Businessmen Union, Moscow Trade Union Commitee of Small and Medium Busi- ness Employees and some commercial organizations were among it's founders. The Foundation possesses unique data -bank which contains information about the private firms business in Moscow region (about 50000 firms), offers a wide range of services to medium and small companies in the Moscow region, grants them loans on favourable conditions and renders our clients assistanse in creation of their small business infrastructure (consultations, information, search and selection of foreign partners, arrangement of exter- nal trade operations). "THE WAY TO SUCCESS" MAGAZINE AND "MOSCOW BUSINESS JOURNAL" The Foundation has established it's own Russian magazine "THE WAY TO SUCCESS". It consist of 64 pages of 160 x 260 mm format and have circulation of 75000 copies a month. It's main aim may be stated very simply: the magazine should serve as a refernce book for every Russian or American businessman, who feels himself strong enough to fight for business success in terms of new Russian market. It will help Russian people of intellectual labour (scientists, inventors, architects etc.) to implement their ideas, projects and inventions at this uneasy for us time in Russia and abroad. This year our magazine will be issued not only in Russian, but in English and Spanish too under the title of "MOSCOW BUSINESS JOURNAL". Russian version will reflect life and activity problems of Russian businessmen, English and Spanish version — useful information for American and other foreign businessmen, who intend to make their business in Russia. So, the magazine and journal will serve as a bridge for business information exchange between Russia and countries of both American continents. RUSSIAN BUSINESS CENTER FOR THE AMERICAS Foundation is going to set up Russian Business Center For The Americas in Miami this year to fill the gap of absence of real business contacts of North American and South American businessmen with Russian businessmen. Miami has been chosen as a place to locate the Center, because it is important business city for both American continents, the gate from the USA to Latin America. Development of business ties between Russia and Latin America have just been starling and seem to be very attractive. The main tasks of the Center will be: 1. to render information services to help American Businessmen to establish and de- velop contacts with Russian businessmen. 2. to render mediation services and assistance in arrangement of trade. 3. to help American businessmen, that first come to our market, to get (to buy or lease) accomodatios, premises, communications, transportation means for their long term and short term visits to Russia ("Welcome to Moscow" program). Foundation also plans to set up a Russian Cultural Center in Miami, which will house a Russian culture museum -shop, where the best atricles of Russian traditional and modern handicrafts will be exhibited and offered for sale. All these arrangements qre approved by Moscow government. Russian Business Center For The Americas will represent intereew not only, of Russia's private business, but also of some Russian State organizations, which are interested in doing business with American partners: Russia's Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Communi- cations, Committee for Information techniques industry (Committee is subsidizing factories of Russia's computer industry).
