FLORIDA 33137 13051 573.3020 FAX: 573.2574 The purpose of this letter is to request a hearing from the City Commission on April 30, 1992. The reason for this hearing is to request from the members of the City Commission to convert the $50,000.00 loan granted to HAFI on November 14, 1991 Resolution No. 91--789 into a grant, due to the fact that we are a non-profit Organization and we have not been able to raise the needed funds to pay the same as originally expected. The reason we have not been able to raise these funds are various among them: Stagment economy in the City turmoil and insecurity in the Community due to conditions in Haiti. Family separation and effects caused by Guantanamo's situation and court decision towards the Haitian refugees. STAFF All of the above conditions has placed the Foundation in EXECUTIVEDIRECTOR COLETTIREY a situation were monetary contributions from the Haitian Community have not come forward and these moneys have been targeted instead to alleviate the conditions of those family members returned to Haiti by the Coast Guard. We do not foresee these conditions changing on the near future, thus the request to convert the loan into a• grant. p post ve consideration to this request is appreciated. Cayar ent
