AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A CONTRIBUTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $783.74 FROM THE CITIZENS OF O'FALLON, MISSOURI, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE O'FALLON NEWSTIME; ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "HURRICANE ANDREW RELIEF ASSISTANCE", AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR ITS OPERATION IN THE ABOVE SPECIFIED AMOUNT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF FUTURE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM OTHER SOURCES FOR SIMILAR PURPOSES AND AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATIONS OF ALL SUCH CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE OPERATION OF THE REVENUE FUND; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Miami have suffered greatly from the effects of Hurricane Andrew; and WHEREAS, the citizens of O'Fallon, Missouri, in conjunction with the O'Fallon Newstime, have demonstrated their compassion by collecting $783.74 to assist in the rebuilding effort; and WHEREAS, said contribution was presented to representatives of the City of Miami Police Department, for use by the citizens of Miami, at a ceremony held at the Miami International Airport; and WHEREAS, the City Commission anticipates that other similar contributions shall be made to the City for the same purposes; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: 11010 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept a contribution in the amount of $783.74 from the citizens of O'Fallon, Missouri, in conjunction with the O'Fallon Newstime. Section 3. The following Special Revenue Fund is hereby established and resources are hereby appropriated as described hereinbelow: FUND TITLE: Hurricane Andrew Relief Assistance RESOURCES: Citizens of O'Fallon, Missouri and $ 783.74 the O'Fallon Newstime APPROPRIATIONS: Hurricane related expenses $ 783.74 Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept donations of resources into this fund and appropriate such donations, as they occur, for hurricane related expenses. Section 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 6. Section 8. The requirement of reading this Ordinance on two separate days is hereby dispensed with by an affirmative vote of not less than four -fifths of the members of the Commission. Section 9. The citizens of O'Fallen, Missouri, in conjunction with the O'Fallen Newstime, have collected $683.74, in an effort to assist the citizens of Miami in rebuilding after hurricane Andrew. This contribution was presented to representatives of the City of Miami Police Department, for use by the citizens of Miami, at a ceremony at the Miami International Airport, on October 6, 1992.
