REFERENCF5: rNCLOSURES It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached ordinance, as amended, increasing the appropriations to the Special Revenue Fund entitled: "Asset Tracking" by $34,500, as the result of a successful application for additional grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice. Ordinance No. 10912, adopted September 11, 1991, established resources and appropriations for the "Asset Tracking" program, in the amount of $40,000. As the result of a successful application to the U.S. Department of Justice, there are an additional $34,500 available for deposit into the fund. The request for the appropriation of these monies is required for the Miami Police Department to continue its efforts at combatting narcotics trafficking through the seizure of assets obtained through illegal activities. The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, has awarded the City of Miami Police Department this grant of $34,500 to . conduct financial investigations upon individuals and organizations suspected of drug trafficking. The purpose of these investigations is to identify assets obtained from the profit of narcotics operations. No matching funds are required by the City. 11 w U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS OJP CISJA ❑ OJJDP ' AWARDOFFICE G1 GRANT PAGE 1,01y, ❑ $Js ❑ N1J ❑ OVC CHECK APPROPRIATE BOX fS COOPERATIVE AOREEMENT 1, GRANTEE NAME AND ADDRESS Oltdild(Itj ZIP COd[) , 4.
