WHEREAS, the Community Development Advisory Board was created to advise the City Commission on community development and housing needs; and WHEREAS, said Board is comprised of one representative (resident or property owner) from each of eight (8) Community Development target areas appointed by the City Commission and ten (10) representatives to be appointed by the City Commission, providing each Commissioner with two (2) nominations; and WHEREAS, the terms of all eighteen (18) members of the Citywide Community Development Advisory Board are due for appointment by the City Commission; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The proposed Resolution provides for eighteen (18) appointments by the City Commission to the Community Development Advisory Board. The present Board's term has expired as per Resolution No. 91-894 adopted by the City Commission on December 5, 1991. BACKGROUND: The Department of Community Development has prepared the appropriate legislation for the attached Resolution. This Resolution provides eighteen (18) appointments to the Community Development Advisory Board. The Board is comprised of one (1) representative (resident or property owner) from each of the eight (8) Community Development target areas elected by the target area residents, and ten (10) representatives to be appointed by the City Commission, providing each Commissioner and Mayor with two (2) appointments to the Community Development Advisory Board. This Board will serve for a two year term. Elections have been held in the eight (8) Community Development target areas in September to receive nominations to the Advisory Board. These nominations will then be submitted to the City Commission for consideration at the November 18th, 1993 meeting.
