FOR THE FURNISHING OF HORSE FEED AND SUPPLEMENTS FOR THE MOUNTED PATROL UNIT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE; AT A TOTAL PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $9,093.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 290201-710; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS ACQUISITION. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received August 11, 1993 for the furnishing of horse feed and supplements for the Mounted Patrol Unit of the Police Department; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to fifteen (15) potential j bidders and one (1) bid was received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available from the Police Department General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 290201-710; and WHEREAS, this feed and supplement will be utilized to keep the horses fed and healthy; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of the Police Department recommend that the bid received from Robbie's Feed & Supply, Inc. be accepted as the only responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY CoNmrSSIOAi MEETING OF NOV 2 3 1993 Reodudon No. 93- 707 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The August 11, 1993 bid of Robbie's Feed & Supply, Inc. for the furnishing of horse feed and supplements for the Mounted Patrol Unit of the Police Department at a total proposed amount of $9,093.00 is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Police Department General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 290201-710. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a Purchase Order for this acquisition. Section 4. The funding source will be the Police Department General Operating Budget, Index Code 290201-710. The Police Department maintains a Mounted Patrol Unit. The requested feed and supplements will be utilized to keep the horses fed and healthy. On July 28, 1993, the police department solicited bids for horse. feed and supplements. On August 11, 1993, bids were opened, with one vendor submitting a responsive bid and one vendor submitting a "no -bid." Robbie's Feed & Supply, Inc., provided the only bid, and meets the department's requirements and specifications. It is, therefore, recommended that the award be made to Robbie's Feed & Supply, Inc., in the amount of $9,093, for the provision of horse feed and supplements.
