Section 3(b) of Resolution No. 91-502, adopted July 11, 1991, as amended, is hereby amended in the following parti rs:�`/ "Section 3. In order to improve the morale of sworn police personnel and thereby contribute to conwan .ty civic progress, the City Mamger sha11 implement the following policy: 1/ Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted. Underscored words and/or figures shall be added. The remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged. CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF 0 CT 14 1993 Resolution No, 93- 645 i (a) Henceforth, subject to applicable law and with the concurrence of the Cbief Procurement Officer, any one weapon which has been issued to sworn personnel of the Police Department for their individual use is to be made available as a donation at no cost to such personnel on the date of their retirement under honorable conditions; provided, that such personnel shall have qualified for service, early service, rule of 70, ordinary disability or service incurred disability retirement. (b) Further, if more than one weapon had been issued to said sworn personnel for their individual use, they shall have the right to purchase one such other weapon, if the weapon is available, at a price which is equal to or greater than the amount that would be reasonably anticipated from the sale of such other weapon through public auction. Any actions that the City Manager may have taken in authorizing the purchase of the other weapon prior to the date hereof are hereby ratified, approved, and confirmed. Section 3. It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution, as amended, extending the time period in which sworn personnel may purchase their second issued weapon, indefinitely, pending the adoption of this resolution, conditioned upon the police department still being in possession of the firearm. Resolution Nos. 91-502, and 93-001 amended Resolution No. 89-798, and allowed sworn personnel to purchase any second weapon issued to them, until June 14, 1993. The police department would like to extend the time period for purchasing the second issued weapon indefinitely, from the adoption of this resolution, conditioned upon the police department still being in possession of the firearm. �o -D 93- 645
