RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the attached resolution be
adopted recognizing the tax-exempt status claimed by the Urban
League of Greater Miami, a charitable organization, in support of
its request for a grant in the amount of $11,921.12, said sum
being confirmed as the amount to be received by the City as a
result of the organization's noncompliance with the filing
requirement for tax-exempt status of property located within the
City of Miami; further designating property tax accounts in the
general fund and general obligation debt service fund for such
payment.
BACKGROUND•
In the past years, the Urban League of Greater Miami, a
charitable organization, failed to claim tax exempt status from
Dade County for properties it owns at the following addresses:
243 N. W. 10 Street
3662 Frow Avenue
1760 N. W. 1 Place
1720 N. W. 1 Place
At this time, the Urban League must pay $11,921.12 in delinquent
City of Miami property taxes for above properties. The attached
resolution reimburses the Urban League for the payment of such
taxes.
These properties have been exempted by Dade County for 1993
property taxes.
