HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-93-0564J-93-655 9/3/93 RESOLUTION NO. 9 3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH THOMPSON CONSULTANTS INTERNATIONAL, FOR AVIATION PLANNING SERVICES AT WATSON ISLAND; FURTHER AUTHORIZING COMPENSATION FOR SAID SERVICES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $210,000, TO BE FUNDED AS FOLLOWS: 1) PRIMARY FUNDING, IN THE AMOUNT OF $189,000, TO BE RECEIVED FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION ENTITLEMENT TRUST FUND, FISCAL YEAR 1990; AND 2) SECONDARY FUNDING, IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,000, TO BE RECEIVED FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THE CITY OF MIAMI ($10,500 EACH). WHEREAS, on April 12, 1990, the City Commission, pursuant to Resolution No. 90-283, designated as a Category "B" Project, the proposed development of an Air Transportation Facility at Watson Island, and approved the issuance of a Request for Proposals, for the acquisition of professional planning and design services in connection therewith; and WHEREAS, on October 8, 1992, the City Commission, through Resolution No. 92-633, approved the recommendation of the selection committee of the three most qualified firms to provide these services and authorized the City Manager to commence negotiations with the prime consultant; and CITY commission WTEETINC; CIF Resolution No. WHEREAS, on May 13, 1993, the City Commission, pursuant to Resolution No. 93-333, authorized the City Manager to enter into a Joint Participation Agreement with the State of Florida Department of Transportation for the purpose of assisting in the funding of the Watson Island Aviation Planning Project in an amount not to exceed five percent (5%) of the total project cost; and WHEREAS, the FAA has issued a tentative allocation of funding in the amount of $189 , 000 in the form of a grant to the City of Miami for use in the Planning and Design of Aviation Facilities at Watson Island; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorizedl/ to enter into a professional services agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with Thompson Consultants International, for Aviation Planning Services at Watson Island. Section 3. Compensation is hereby authorized for said services, in an amount not to exceed $210,000, to be funded as follows: 1) Primary funding, in the amount of $189,000, to be The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. -2- 93- ►64 received from the United States Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration Entitlement Trust Fund, Fiscal Year 1990; and 2) Secondary funding, in the amount of $21,000, to be received from the State of Florida Department of Transportation and the City of Miami ($10,500 each).
