HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-93-0522J-93-620 8/25/93 RESOLUTION NO.9 51042 A RESOLUTION RELATED TO CARNAVAL MIAMI 1994; AUTHORIZING THE RELAXATION OF TIME LIMITATIONS ON THE DISPLAY OF FIMgORKS TO ALLOW THE STAGING OF PYROTECHNIC DISPLAYS UNTIL 12:00 MIDNIGHT FOR CARNAVAL NIGHT AT THE ORANGE BOWL STADIUM ON MARCH 5, 1994, FOR A SPONSORS PARTY IN TfiL VIZCAYA AREA ON MARCH 11, 1994, AND FOR CARNAVAL MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AT BAYFRONT PARK ON MARCH 12, 1994, SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF APPROPRIATE PERMITS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES; CONDITIONING ALL APPROVALS AND AUTHORIZATIONS HEREIN UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT AND OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE. WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana will conduct the 1994 Carnaval Mi +1�, consisting of various events during the period March 5 through March 13, 1994; and WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana has requested an extension of the fireworks deadline to allow the staging of pyrotechnic displays until 12:00 midnight in connection with Carnaval Night at the Orange Bowl on March 5, 1994, a sponsors party at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens on March 11, 1994, and for Carnaval Miami International at Bayfront Park on March 12, 1994; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The relaxation of time limitations on the display of fireworks to allow the staging of pyrotechnic displays is hereby authorized until 12 Midnight on Saturday, March 5, 1994 at the Orange Bowl for Carnaval Night; on Friday, March 11, 1994 in the Vizcaya area for a sponsors party; and CITY C01,1,it�SSllyN Aesoh,tion No. ��� ��y2 e on Saturday, March 12, 1994 at Bayfront Park in connection with Carnaval Miami International, subject to the issuance of appropriate permits from the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Section 2. The herein approvals and authorizations are hereby conditioned upon the organizers paying for all costs of City services associated with said event and obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee. BACKGROUND: The Department of Community Development has prepared the appropriate legislation to grant the necessary authorizations related to the staging of fireworks at the 1994 Carnaval Miami festivities during the period March 5 through March 13, 1994 as detailed above.
